So Vino

So VinoIf you’re looking for a place to sit down and with a bottle of wine with some close friends, or somewhere that you and that special someone can chill and have a good meal, put So Vino Wine Bar and Bistro at 507 Westheimer in Midtown at the top of your list.

The quaint little restaurant exudes a sultry atmosphere at night with candles lit on each table accompanied with crisp white linen tablecloths and a single rose. The bar has an excellent selection of wine and with over 55 different types of reds and whites; proving they have something for everyone.

For dinner, try the shiraz-braised short ribs; they are simply amazing. The meat is so juicy and tender that it literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The short ribs are served with creamy herb mashed potatoes. For pasta lovers, the spicy shrimp pasta is a perfect choice. It’s a lighter dish, but with the tomatoes, basil and pine nuts it’s still a delicious choice. The roasted arbol chile and chicken enchiladas are just as scrumptious and are topped with lots of oozy cheeses and pico de gallo. The enchiladas are served with this green rice that was so good, I almost lost my mind at the table. At only $14 the enchiladas are surely my favorite dish on the menu.

The desert menu is small but one item you can’t pass up would be the S’mores. They bring a small grill (complete with graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate) to your table and it brings back memories of making your own S’mores in your backyard. Add a glass of moscato and you have the perfect adult treat. Another dessert that’s a perfect match with the sweeter wines is the four-layer ice cream cake topped with pistachios. The blend of strawberry, chocolate, mint-chocolate, and vanilla ice cream and it’s served on the side of fresh luscious strawberries and blueberries drizzled with chocolate is to die for. So Vino also has an awesome happy hour with half priced bottles of wine from $35 and up on Monday nights. There is also a three-course meal special at only $17 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. So Vino also has frequent wine tasting events and private parties are also welcome.
