In Cold Blood on a Hot, Houston Day

Rice Village is home to a unique bookstore dedicated exclusively to mystery, espionage, crime and detective fiction. It’s hard to drive past this place without stopping in, especially with a name like Murder by the Book.
Since 1980, Murder by the Book has been feeding the literary appetites of the Houston area bookworms who enjoy a good mystery or crime story. They have fiction mystery books and for you non-fiction readers who are looking for a good story, they also have a large selection of true crime novels. The staff is welcoming and extremely knowledgeable of the inventory. If you’re looking for a particular author like Charlotte Carter or L.A. Banks for example, they know exactly where to direct you. You can describe to them what kind of reading experience you want to have and a member of the staff will have a list of relevant recommendations for you to check out.
The atmosphere is cozy and reminiscent of a classic study decked out with oversized leather chairs and lamps. Unlike your typical commercial bookstore with all the distracting smell of coffee beans diverting your attention enticing you to spend additional money on coffee and scones, you can focus on finding a great book for you to relax with on a plane, the beach or while lying around the house. They host books signings and readings throughout the year as well. Stop in, check it out, and read a book.
